Set Yourself Free!

My thoughts from two powerful sermons from Pastor Jerry on Wednesday 9/27/17 & 10/4/17.

Isaiah 54:14-17 New International Version (NIV)

14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
    you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
    it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
    whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
    who fans the coals into flame
    and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
17     no weapon forged against you will prevail,
    and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
    and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the Lord.

Isaiah 54:14-17 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

14 You will be built on goodness.
    You will be safe from cruelty and fear.
So you will have nothing to fear.
    Nothing will come to hurt you.
15 I will never send anyone to attack you.
    And if any army tries to attack you, you will defeat them.
16 “Look, I made the blacksmith. He blows on the fire to make it hotter. Then he takes the hot iron and makes the kind of tool he wants to make. In the same way, I made the ‘Destroyer’ to destroy things.

17 “People will make weapons to fight against you, but their weapons will not defeat you. Some people will say things against you, but anyone who speaks against you will be proved wrong.”

The Lord says, “That is what my servants get! They get the good things[a] that come from me, their Lord.

God is telling us that we have nothing to fear.  That we are built in his image and through our faith in him we have righteousness.   Righteousness being justified and morally correct in accordance with the word of God.  No army or weapon can destroy you, as that is not what God has made them for.  When you buy in to fear, oppression, a mob you are giving in to the destroyer - Satan.

Isaiah 54:1-2 New International Version (NIV)

The Future Glory of Zion
54 “Sing, barren woman,
    you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
    you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
    than of her who has a husband,”
says the Lord.
2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,
    stretch your tent curtains wide,
    do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,

    strengthen your stakes.

Isaiah 54:1-2 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

God Brings His People Home
54 “Woman, be happy!
You have not had any children,
    but you should be very happy.
“Yes, the woman who is alone[a]
    will have more children than the woman with a husband.”
This is what the Lord says.
2 “Make your tent bigger.
    Open your doors wide.
    Don’t think small!

Make your tent large and strong,

In this story God is telling a barren woman, a woman with no children, to prepare for a houseful of kids.  To make her house larger and do some child-proofing, because they are coming.

God teaches us lessons through all things.  What can we learn here?  We need to learn where we are barren in spirit, and prepare.  Look at all parts of your life.  Where are you bare?  Where is there no fruit from a harvest?  Partner with faith.  Break down any barriers & boundaries you have.  Don't wallow in the emotion of the situation.  That is is the easy thing to do.  Take the hard road celebrate and prepare for the fruit you know is coming.  Cry out to to God - out loud! Vocalize it.  Put your all into the most dead & bare part of your life.  Prepare!  You know that your fruit is coming - make room for it.  Do whatever you need to do.  If you are praying for a baby ... by all means build that nursery.

Philippians 3:12-14 New International Version (NIV)

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

Trying to Reach the Goal

12 I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do. It is the reason he made me his.
13 Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me.
14 I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven.

We have to forget what is in the past to move forward.  Forgetting, in this sense, isn't pretending something didn't occur.  It's not letting it be all consuming that you cannot move forward.  It's letting go of past occurrences to move on to the new thing God has for you.   If you are tied down to something, you simply cannot move forward.

2 Corinthians 5:17 New International Version (NIV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

17 When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world.[a] The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!

Letting go of the old, and full faith in God brings the new thing.  God cannot upgrade you to the new thing until you let go of the old.  You cannot fully prepare for your fruitful harvest without letting go.

Pastor Jerry gives us 3 keys to breaking free:

1.  Forgiveness
2.  Value
3.  Unconditional

~~~~~~~~~~~Forgiveness~~~~~~~~~~
Romans 8:1-4 New International Version (NIV)
Life Through the Spirit
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1-4 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
Life in the Spirit
8 So now anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty. 2 That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you[a] free. It made you free from the law that brings sin and death. 3 The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin. God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin. 4 He did this so that we could be right just as the law said we must be. Now we don’t live following our sinful selves. We live following the Spirit.
In Jesus we have forgiveness for our sins.  That is it.  Jesus knows it all, all parts of you.  And we are forgiven!  Then why do we struggle with forgiving ourselves?  We know ourselves, our deepest and darkest parts.  We think that know one will love us if they found out everything.  This is a lie straight from hell itself.  Then we compare ourselves to people on the internet or across the road and why we are not as blessed.  But we don't truly know how they got where they are - their background.  You don't know the struggles to get there.
Forgiveness is received not achieved!
~~~~~~~~~~~~Value~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Psalm 139:13-14 New International Version (NIV)

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,

    I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

13 You formed the way I think and feel.[a]
    You put me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because you made me in such a wonderful way.

    I know how amazing that was!

We are custom made by God, therefore we have extreme value.  Because of this value, your past has no right to derail your future.  By putting yourself down you are putting down a wonder of God - YOU!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Unconditional~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. 5 Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. 6 Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth. 7 Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.
God loves us with no strings attached.  At all.  All of his children.  In the same manner that a parent loves a child, that love is precious to him. God doesn't give up on us no matter the mess we have gotten ourselves into.  We should strive to love others in the same manner.  We don't have to agree or even like the other person but there should be love.
**************************************************************
So much can be taken away from these sermons.  Here are my take aways:
  • We are created in the image of God, therefore we should have no fear from our enemies.  Buying into fear / oppression is buying to lies from Satan.
  • In times of barrenness, we need to prepare for fruit.  Because it is coming.
  • We need to get out of the misery of the situation and take the emotion out of the barrenness.   Cry out to God for a solution.
  • Let go of the old, before we can move on to the new.
  • We must forgive ourselves.  Jesus does!
  • We must value ourselves - we are made in the perfect image from God.
  • We must love as God, unconditionally.
Life Management & Planning - Part 4 Opportunities & Threats
Opportunities - We need to be actively seeking ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  What are opportunities for us to use our strengths?  How do we go after them?  Where do we find them?
Acts 13:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
Kings are seekers of opportunities.
You have to walk your walk then grow, seek & advance.
Hebrews 5:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
You have to grow & mature.
Mark 4:24 New International Version (NIV)
24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.
Pay attention.
God speaks through stories, events,weather,and on & on. He doesn't cause bad things to happen to make a point.  But if you have an eye to see & ear to hear you will find God's word in these things.  Remember on Earth as it is in Heaven.  There are no tornadoes or cancer in Heaven.
Proverbs 25:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter;
    to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
You do not get to question God's actions - only yours.
I recently watched an episode of  Dreams & Mysteries with John Paul Jackson speaking about the Keys of Heaven.  He states:  The keys are our way of using God's divine nature to make God's will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.  Note not the keys to but of the Kingdom.  Jesus is your key to the Kingdom.
Matthew 16:17-20New International Version (NIV)
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
I wanted to include the keys here and John Paul Jackson's words on them as I think it's important in seeking out your opportunities.
You have two keys to destroy works of evil:  Power & Authority.
Power to subdue, conquer & create.  Authority gives dominion to overcome, build or remove.
Below is copied from John Paul Jackson's Teaching Notes:
NINE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: The keys of the Kingdom of Heaven are found in the nine gifts of Holy Spirit—each one destroys evil in one way or another.
1. Word of Knowledge: Encourages a person that God knows them and all they have gone through and will help them become everything He created themto be.
2. Word of Wisdom: Is where the Holy Spirit gives insight and answers from the throne of God to the perplexing situations and circumstances Satan tries to snare you or another person with.
3. Prophecy: Reveals what God wants you to do in the future. Also reveals the plans of evil so you can stop or avoid those traps.
4. Discerning of Spirits: Reveals the source of the spirit that is causing something to happen—whether it is from God or from the evil one.
5. Gifts of Healings: Destroys the illness, disease, infirmity, or affliction brought by Satan and releases the person to become what God created them to be.
6. Gift of Miracles: Regenerates or recreates to the original created order what the evil one has tried to destroy.
7. Gift of Faith: It sees how God’s plans supersede the plans of Satan. It is more than the general measure of faith given by God, it is a supernatural declaration of something that will come into being. It is brought about by a divine combination of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and revelation that allow a reality of what God will do before it comes into being.
8. Gift of Tongues: Glorify God and strengthen the spirit of the one who speaks, thus implementing the will of God over the will of Satan.
9. Gift of Interpretation of Tongues: Strengthens those who hear,  brings Glory to God, and also implements the will of God over the will of Satan.
The keys were what Jesus gave the disciples to learn & master then practice, live, teach & pass on.
We must be observant in everything around us both natural & supernatural for opportunities; then we must use the Keys of the Kingdom to be the hands & feet of Jesus.
Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Threats?  Well I don't have to much to say on that.  We must surround ourselves with folks seeking the same opportunities.  We must have a team ... or a tribe ... I choose Open Door.  Threats can be clear as day or just jump up and smack the taste out of you.  Hence why you need a tribe.
Life Management & Planning - Part 3 Weaknesses
What are my weaknesses?
This is where the self-analysis gets tricky! You have to really look and say I'm weak in this area.  And that is okay.
You can just pray to God to make you strong in this area and fixed right?
Not exactly.   Depending on the weakness and what it is there are two ways to deal with it and use it.
2 Corinthians 12:1-10 New International Version (NIV)
Paul’s Vision and His Thorn
12 I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. 3 And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows— 4 was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. 5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. 6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
So what is Paul talking about here?  He has this weakness / a flaw, he never really says what it is, but God makes him keep.  Why?  To keep him humble.  Being humble now becomes a strength to this weakness.
********************************
That is not to be said that if you have a weakness that is destructive you shouldn't ask God to deliver you from it.  God uses your weakness to have a chair at that table.  To sit right next to you. Learn how to serve God in your weakness to make it a strength.
So your a drunk a highly destructive weakness.  In your greatest despair ask God to plop down at the barstool next to you.  Yes ask God to hang out at the bar with you.  Then have God sit with you at a sober living meeting.  Then have God come with you to visit your old drinking buddies.  And then have God go with you and a friend on their path to sobriety.  You see your weakness became a strength.
I Corinthians 15:43 “It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.”
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
 There is somebody God can be to you in both strength & weakness.
Life Management & Planning - Part 2 Strengths
Strengths - Where am I strong?
Joel 3:10New International Version (NIV)
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
    and your pruning hooks into spears.
Let the weakling say,
    “I am strong!”
Stand in 100% faith.  Be brave & strong.
Hebrews 11:6New International Version (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Psalm 27:13-14New International Version (NIV)
13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.
Back up does that say wait on the Lord?  Wait doesn't really say action does it?
Wait:
to look forward to eagerly
to be in readiness for; be reserved for
to perform the duties of an attendant or servant for.
So yes Wait on the Lord!
Isaiah 40:28-31New International Version (NIV)
28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.
Those that partner with God they shall not fail.
They shall RISE!
Ephesians 2:8-9New International Version (NIV)
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
Grace is a gift of God .... not of works.
James 1:5-8New International Version (NIV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Don't doubt the word of God.
Fear & Doubt are spirits of the devil.
Life Management & Planning - Part 1
This is my thoughts and what I'm taking away from Pastor Troy Brewer's [Open Door Church] teaching called SWOT.  Also a bit of my research and some quips from a visitor at our church - Mylon Lefevre.
The origins of SWOT are completely unknown.  Albert Humphrey, a researcher, began using it in the 1960's but doesn't claim to have made it up.  So what is it?  Here is Wikipedia's answer:
SWOT analysis (alternatively SWOT matrix) is an acronym for strengthsweaknessesopportunities, and threats and is a structured planning method that evaluates those four elements of an organization, project or business venture.
Okay great.  Now how can I apply this in my life?  David & I together will be applying this to our goals as a couple.  And individually to personal goals bringing God into each quadrant of the plan.
This is a good way to do a self analysis. A way to check yourself and be real.  A bit of self judgement.
2 Corinthians 13:5New International Version (NIV)
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
Judge yourself and you won't be judged.  Are you walking in what you believe?
1 Corinthians 11:31New International Version (NIV)
31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.
Three parts of a plan:
  • Strategic - long term - a change toward a vision.
  • Tactical - short term - actions / plans / gears.
  • Operational - pulling it all together.
Stick to the Plan & Get Past Your Malfunctions.
God will bless your plan because of the commitment of the plan - not because of how great the plan is.
Proverbs 16:3New International Version (NIV)
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
    and he will establish your plans.
Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
  • Where am I STRONG?
  • Where am I WEAK?
  • What are my OPPORTUNITIES?
  • What are my THREATS? [boundaries/borders/obstacles]
FOCUS
These are my notes & what I'm taking away from a teaching at my church Open Door Church by our pastor Troy Brewer on February 1st, 2017.
Before I add my notes I must preempt with the events to led to me being at church on a Wednesday evening.   I normally reserve Wednesdays for spending time with my grandson Trevor.
Beginning around Thanksgiving I had started to really feel a great buzz about 2017.  I truly was getting the feeling that it was going to be a great year of change.  And it is going to be - already has in many ways.  But with that change I knew there would be obstacles and down right evil to destroy it. I began to mentally "armor" up.  I had a break through rebonding with my sister Wendy.  I began to spend more time with my tribe [aka church family] and bonding with members there.  I began to distance myself from negativity in my life.  I really and truly felt on January 1 that I would be ready to face 2017 and any challenge to changes I wanted.
I was wrong! Very wrong.
The downhill that would snowball started on December 28th - a Wednesday.  Sometime during the day I turned wrong or something and tweaked by back.  It doesn't take a much.  I didn't think it was a bad spell as I could sort of still move about.  Made it till late afternoon and threw in the towel.  By the next morning it was getting bad.  I called work and would just go to doc for hopefully a steroid shot and make it till end of week for the holiday weekend.  Nope my doctor was having none of it.  He didn't want me to end up in the hospital on a crazy holiday like New Years.  Off work until January 3rd.  So I took my little pills and took it easy at home for days looking at everything that needed to be done and knowing how behind I was getting at work.  New Year's Day I felt good enough to make an awesome church service.  I rested up January 2nd and ready to go on the 3rd.
But that wasn't all the devil had in store for me ... I got my butt chewed so many times at work I should have lost some weight - no luck.  Family issues.  An uncle passed.  And caught a strain of the flu that the flu shot didn't cover - 5 days quarantined.
This brings us to the February 1st and why I was at church on a Wednesday.  Major butt chewing & accusations of things I don't do at work.  Around noon I was done - I went outside for what Pastor Troy calls a prayer walk.  Around the building praying out loud and hands thrown in the air - I'm sure a spectacle for the first floor tenants.  I didn't care.  Last half lap Jesus in his still quiet voice replies:  "Go to church tonight".  I don't question it and I don't make excuses.  I just text Dave that is where I will be.
I get there about 6:40 and head to the restroom.  I look an absolute hot mess.  Very rough you definitely wouldn't think I just came from an office job.  I find a spot and deep in prayer for a good 10 minutes to just leave all this at the door & let me learn what I was led there to learn.  Great worship  & praise time.  Then Pastor Troy begins and tonight is on Focus.
Here are my final notes:
Joshua 24:23 “So now put aside the foreign gods that are among you. Focus your hearts on the Lord, the God of Israel.”
Blocking the negative narrative in your head; so that you can find & hear God’s narrative for you.
2017 is set to be a huge year but the distraction will be louder & more hostile than ever.  Armor up.
You must answer the evil with good.
God loves us all the same … but blesses [upgrades] us differently.  Answering good with evil qualifies you for upgrades.  An evil situation is an opportunity to bring in God.  It will be offensive to you to do this.  It goes against the human grain.  You will completely want to handle the situation differently - you have to Focus  on how to bring God to the situation.
You also need to know when to walk away from a situation - if you do not know how or cannot bring God into it at that moment.  Walking away is not failure.  Not being fruitful is failure.  Do not get derailed by the evil of playing someone else’s game.  Even if you win; you have lost because it has taken you off your task.
 Colossians 3:2 Think about the things above and not things on earth.
2 Corinthians 4:18  We don’t focus on the things that can be seen but on the things that can’t be seen. The things that can be seen don’t last, but the things that can’t be seen are eternal.
You need to decide what moves you … what your assignment is.  Do not get overly wrapped up in things that are not in alignment with heaven.  [a tv show or hobby for example] A temporary distraction should not become something that causes you to lose Focus on your Godly assignment.  You have to let holy things effect you.  Evil deeds done to innocent people should break your heart & cause you to cry.   Glorious achievements in the name of God should cause you to rejoice.
Stop … Take a Moment … FOCUS
 Matthew 33 Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore, stop worrying about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
 Proverbs 4:25 Focus your eyes straight ahead; keep your gaze on what is in front of you.
Is your mind a sanctuary for God?  Be watchful for spiritual things.  Righteousness - standing in the presence of God and how we react to his presence.  Try to be aware of God’s presence in your life at all times.
  Psalm 1
1 The truly happy person
    doesn’t follow wicked advice,
    doesn’t stand on the road of sinners,
    and doesn’t sit with the disrespectful.
2 Instead of doing those things,
    these persons love the Lord’s Instruction,
    and they recite God’s Instruction day and night!
3 They are like a tree replanted by streams of water,
    which bears fruit at just the right time
    and whose leaves don’t fade.
        Whatever they do succeeds.
4 That’s not true for the wicked!
    They are like dust that the wind blows away.
5 And that’s why the wicked will have no standing in the court of justice—
    neither will sinners
    in the assembly of the righteous.
6 The Lord is intimately acquainted
    with the way of the righteous,
    but the way of the wicked is destroyed.
Blessed & Happy - doesn’t walk with ungodly, doesn’t stand with sinners and isn’t seated with the scorned.
You have the power to stop the ungodly in your life.  You can change how you think, act and react with sinfulness.
Romans 8:5 People whose lives are based on selfishness think about selfish things, but people whose lives are based on the Spirit think about things that are related to the Spirit.
What are you after?
Focus  on the track of Jesus & go in the way of Jesus.   You will fail and that’s okay - just GO!  Fear of failure is a spirit of evil trying to derail you from your assignment.
2 Timothy 2:15 Make an effort to present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker, who doesn’t need to be ashamed but is one who interprets the message of truth correctly.
Psalm 86:11 Teach me your way, Lord, so that I can walk in your truth. Make my heart focused only on honoring your name.
Listen to God in all areas of your life.  Listen for the “theme” of what is he is telling you.  Study on it and figure out how it effects you.  Then present it back to God.
Now these of course are not my first set of notes those were barely legible or second or third time I have gone back to this sermon.  This is what I took away from Pastor Troy's sermon and then added some to based on research & study.
What I learned from this:
  • I was nowhere near ready or armored up enough for 2017.  I didn't realize that evil and obstacles were going to hit me from so many angles so quick.
  • I need my tribe - church family.  I need to be surrounded by like minded and spirited people.  It is not I want to go to church it is need.
  •  I need to remember the purpose my work serves and leave the rest behind.
  • I need to eliminate / limit negativity from my life.
  • MOST IMPORTANT - I need to clean out junk in my head so I can hear the small voice of Jesus.
  • Focus in on God's plan for me and home in on that.  Do not be distracted.
